I always love trying new restaurants, especially when they are close to home for me. Warren Rhode Island in an up and coming area for fine dining with beautiful seaside views. Water street is lined with shops, bars, and restaurants that make you want to get out of your car and stroll around. This summer Water street has been under construction, but that hasn’t stopped the locals from visiting including myself. This past Saturday evening, after being told the wait at a neighboring restaurant was an hour for a party of three, I decided to suggest a new tapas bar I had passed on the way called “Merienda.” Merienda Tapas Bar & Restaurant is located in the most beautiful historic home (the Samuel Martin House) right on Water Street in Warren, RI. I immediately was charmed by the space. The Spanish tile that lined the bar, the intimate seating, and the overall decor. My table of 3 ordered 6 different tapas plates and enjoyed every last morsel of them! The broth, seasoning, garlic, and seafood was so fresh. There were a number of fine wines to choose from as well. I appreciated how the bar tender was kind enough to let us sample a few before selecting a bottle. Nothing is worse than committing to a bottle of wine that you’d don’t love. I had the privilege of meeting the owners who were also quite charming. They reside in Newport and have chosen to invest their love of food and time into this amazing new restaurant. If you are local to the area or have a love of tapas then this is the spot for you! I am already planning my visit. Cheers!
