    Letters from Santa

“Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means a little bit more.” We received the most beautiful and magical letters from Santa in the mail yesterday. They are handwritten with love and every last detail reflects how well Santa knows my children. These letters bring the magic of Christmas into your home. They feel warm and real. I simply can’t wait to see the look on my children’s faces when they see and open them. This time of year we can get lost in the holiday rush and when I held these letters time paused for a moment and reminded me of what it feels like to…

    Happy Birthday my sweet daughter…

There is this little girl who puts the color inside of my world. Any time I feel like I don’t have strength I think of her. I remember she is watching me. She is relying on me to guide her, to show her she is safe and loved. Any of life’s problems since becoming a mother have one simple solution to me, a hug from my daughter. Her smile makes me smile and her laugh is infectious. She is fierce and has the best heart. She reminds me why being a mother is a gift. This little girl is the love in my life. She is the sun to my shine.…

A new year and motherhood butterflies

Every year when the children go Back-to-School I get a mix of emotions. I feel butterflies in my stomach. It feels like a fresh start to a new year. I have always based the “new year” on the school calendar since I was a little girl. It just feels so structured and the fall brings in cool weather and change. The past week I’ve found myself debating my role as a parent. My children are in Second grade and Kindergarten. How did that happen? Motherhood seems overwhelming at times. I question: Am I making the best choices for my children? Am I giving them enough of my time? Are they…

    Schools out…

As the end of the school year arrives today, I can’t help but reflect on the year. I’ve always used the school year as a time reference to gage the changes and growth in my life, even as I child. This morning, I find myself thinking about all the ups and downs my children and I faced this school year. The days I forgot their water bottles on the counter and had to race back home. The times we searched franticly on a Tuesday morning for a missing book that had to be returned because it was “library day.” All the little responsibilities that go into raising school aged children.…

    Happy Birthday Mom

Mom, you raised two little girls alone. You gave us the world when you weren’t certain what tomorrow would bring. You taught us that love wins, that words don’t break you, that strong is beautiful, and that second chances sometimes are even better than first. “No” was not in your vocabulary. You encouraged me to love and learn, to wear my heart on my sleeve. You showed me that with each step I took in life you would let me lead the way, but follow close behind me. You listened and watched. You supported and loved. And just when I thought I was alone, you were there to catch me if I…

    A Step-Father’s Love.

A step-parent is so much more than just a parent; they made the choice to love when they didn’t have to. A “father” isn’t defined by the man who made the child, but by the man who extends his hand, heart, and time to help raise and love that child. It takes a real man (selfless, strong, kind) to raise someone else’s children like they are your own. It took me years to accept this amazing man into my life as a father. I wasn’t a child when my mother remarried. I was an independent, stubborn teenager! Now, I’m older and wiser and beyond grateful. Happy Birthday Ron. You have…

    Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2016

“Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.” I am proud of many things in my life but nothing tops being a mother. I see who I want to be in my children’s eyes. They have given me the greatest role in being their mother and have guided me through some of the best and most difficult times in my life. My children have shown me that I can achieve greatness and their love is unconditional. They have allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them. Because of them, I know that bravery means being the only one who knows you’re afraid. It means smiling and moving forward because that’s the only direction…
