Day Trip–New England Charm. Napa Style.

A day trip in Rhode Island can lead to all kinds of adventures since the ocean and farm lands run alongside this beautiful area. This tiny state I call “home” is close to many amazing destinations that are reachable in less than two hours. Yesterday’s travels gave the phrase “Sunday drive” new meaning to me. First thing in the morning we jumped in the car and headed south with no set travel plans. It felt cool to be a beach day and we decided that heading into the country would be fun. I have a love for barns (antiques and new construction). I also am quite fond of farmscape gardens!…

The Popponesset, Friends & Family, Home

Nothing says summer like a day at the Popponesset Beach. Having lived on the Cape for almost a decade, welcoming both my babies there, and making some amazing friends, it just felt like going home yesterday. The Popponesset is pure heaven! Yesterday morning the kids and I hit the road around 9:30am and were on the beach by 11am with the best company ever. I loved watching my little ones let loose. My son swam with his buddy straight from the car in his clothes! The feel of the sand at Wilson Grove’s private beach is awesome. The grains of sand are a little bigger and are still soft in between…

    Kona Ice

Before yesterday I had never heard of or seen a Kona Ice truck. Wow, was I missing something! It was a good day to be a kid yesterday. The Kona Ice truck stopped by my son’s first swim meet and the kids and I were blown away. First, I should say I am used to being talked into buying an $10 snow cone at the circus or some other type of venue. Ice that is way over priced. To my surprise the ice cones from Kona Ice are $2.00 for a perfectly sized cup.  The kids got to flavor this own ice cone with a variety of liquid flavors.  They couldn’t…

    Bikinis by “OP” Ocean Pacific

Finally, bikini weather! It has been the longest winter here on the east coast and now it’s time to shed layers and enjoy this short, but amazing summer we have! I remember wearing OP (Ocean Pacific) when I was kid. The suit were similar to what they are now. Fun and bright colors. When I became a mother I bought their swim shirts for my son. They were great colors, fun prints, and affordable enough that I could buy several so once they got wet and I had a chilly beach or poolside baby I could swap a wet one for a dry! As an adult, I don’t think I ever…

    Lilly Pulitzer for Target

This morning I got in line at my local Target for the much anticipated launch of the Lilly Pulitzer line. I arrived 30 minutes before the store opened. There were about 25 people ahead of me and by 7:56am there were about 70 people behind me. The doors opened promptly at 8:00am and we charged in. I went straight to women’s section which was wiped clean within a minute. Seriously. From there I ran to kids and toddlers where I picked up a few dresses and several bathing suits. The prints where so adorable. That classic Lilly Pulitzer, but for a fraction of the cost. The bathing suits $16 and…
